Designed to boost your creativity, TrueBlur gives your images a more realistic looking softness than has previously been possible. Due to the unique LensFIT technology TrueBlur offers the most realistic blur on the market. TrueBlur has been designed by the award winning team of imaging scientist at FixerLabs and uses EXIF information (where present) to generate an accurate model of the lens optics. Give the selection the final touch by adding 'noise' to ensure it blends seamlessly into the final image.

  • Adds realistic camera blur
  • LensFIT technology
  • Add noise (grain) to the final selection to blend seamlessly with original image
  • Photoshop automation
  • Larger resizable previews
  • Integrates with your image editing workflow as a plug-in filter
  • Works on both 8-bit and 16-bit RGB images
  • FixerBundle V2 for Windows
  • (Mac OS X soon)

Like all the plug-ins produced by FixerLabs, TrueBlur has been designed to ensure the very best results are simple to produce for technical and non-technically minded alike.

The control panel explained..

Once installed TrueBlur will appear as a Filter option in Photoshop. To use you first select an image or image region. The control panel will display the original image in the left window and the softened result in the right hand window. To move the preview window around the image you drag the mouse to the preferred location. To adjust the level of zoom select the + or -icon.

TrueBlur has two controls: one to blur your photo and one to add noise. These are normally the two things we seek to avoid or remove, but in a creative context you may want to blur a region of a photo subtley to drive the viewers attention elsewhere in an image, or even
to correct for focal plane errors.

The Blur slider will blur your photo in the same way as your camera, just as if the region of the photo were outside the depth-of-field of the photo. To do this TrueBlur uses our LensFIT technology to model your camera and optics. It does this by reading the EXIF information attached to the original photograph. In some cases you may need to specify the Make and Model of the camera to activate the LensFIT feature, in which cas a dialogue box will appear. (Check here for a list of currently supported cameras. and here to see an example of the camera options in a FocusFixer control panel))

When you blur a photo you get an unrealistic result - it will have the noise smoothed out as well as the photo detail smoothed out. In a real camera the out-of-focus regions have soft detail but the noise is not affected by the focus. The Noise slider in TrueBlur V2 allows you to add noise back into the blurred regions to match the noise in the rest of your photo.

The result is a realistic blur that is indistinguishable from that which the camera would naturally produce providing you a tool that can extend your creativity.
